CHOOSING A PANEL RAIL TYPE
Choosing the right rail for your application depends on what you are mounting, how heavy & how much time you have!

Tapped Rails:
The strongest, fastest to use, most economical and OUR MOST POPULAR panel rail. Designed to work with all of our accessories without needing adaptors. Downside is you MUST use 10-32 hardware.

Square Hole Rails:
Mainly used when hanging large servers (using mounting hooks or "snap" in rails - that require square holes). Anything else you want to rack mount you simply order your favorite thread clip nuts (ie...10-32, 12-24 or M6).
Square hole rails also allow you THE MOST FLEXIBILITY....you can use hooks, "snap in" rails, 10-32, 12-24 or M6 thread cage nuts. Downside is you need to purchase cage nuts for each hole used. They also take longer to mount - usually requires our insertion tool - RCNIT (see below). ALSO, you should know AHEAD of time where you will mount equipment & need cage nuts installed. It is not much fun juggling heavy rack mount equipment while trying to clip cage nuts into the square holes you need!

Full EIA hole centers (5/8 - 5/8 - 1/2 inch spacing)
Time saver - rails are stamped and numbered in 1U (1.75") increments (see photo)
Bolts vertically in rack to amhal struts
Use with "C2", "C3" or "REFK" series racks
INCLUDES strut mounting hardware (for both rails)

SQUARE HOLE RAILS

Features:

Sold in pairs
Square hole punched (allows choice of cage nuts for 10-32 or 12-24 or M6 thread cage nuts) - see our RCNIT tool (below) for easy cage nut installation.
Heavy Duty - 12 gauge steel
Full EIA hole centers (5/8 - 5/8 - 1/2 inch spacing)

Square Hole - Cage Nut - Insertion Tool

Allows for easy installation of cage nuts in square rail holes - a valuable tool.
Spring steel tool
Highly recommended, as square hole - cage nut hardware is NOT easy to install.
